le sniper instructor course, 5-day
The LE Sniper Instructor course from Standing Offhand is a comprehensive 5-day course designed to elevate current firearms instructors to the next level of competency. While still a firearm by definition, a sniper rifle and its related equipment require a higher degree of understanding and familiarity.
VEHICLE HIDE COURSE, 2-DAY
Police snipers are increasingly required to provide observational and lethal coverage to a growing number of customers. From tactical operations involving search warrants and barricaded suspects to undercover officers meeting with nefarious characters to large public gatherings like political rallies and concerts the need for mobility comes hand-in-hand with the necessity for low visibility deployment, effective fields of observation and fire, and rapid response.
CLAGETT SNIPER TEAM LEADER COURSE, 3-DAY
Lots of moving parts; the Clagett Team Leader Course has been in development for a very long time and I’m stoked to finally be able to offer it. This is the culmination of a collective 30+ years of active, full-time LE sniper assignment and time spent overseas in both combat and Designated Defensive Marksman roles. It comes from basic, fundamental learning phases through autonomous sniper operations; deep philosophical conversations and numerous testing/evaluation processes; designing selection criteria, writing lesson outlines, and most importantly, physically managing teams up to 24 personnel within the political shit-show of American policing and the psychological/emotional chaos of combat operations. The lessons from these experiences and working through the seemingly never-ending problems has led to this course in the hopes of steepening the learning curve and the avoidance of common mistakes and/or misunderstandings.

The first step in the Fundamental Handgun Series. This course covers the basics of handgun ownership and handling with an all-encompassing education package followed by live fire drills designed to promote safety and trust.
SOLVING THE WEE HOURS, 2-DAY
Snipers are expected to respond and contribute to all tactical incidents that their teams are tasked with. This includes incidents that occur in low light/no light and those that begin in daylight and extend into darkness. Night vision for snipers (the whole team, really) is a required and necessary piece of equipment, not an option.

I have been teaching this 5-day course with Tyler for 10 years and he, even longer. It is Tyler’s baby and I have only added perspective and some additional experience to the mix. This is the one we look forward to every year and is unique in several ways:
Fundamental handgun 2
Step 2 in the Fundamental Handgun Series. We shift focus to weapon efficiency and confidence and add weapon and ammo manipulation to deepen the skill set. A full day of live fire punctuated by classroom-style breaks.
LE SNIPER BASIC COURSE, 6-DAY
Police snipers are a specialty position within a specialty assignment. They are required to operate independently and provide a solution where none other may exist. Every time you deploy lives hang in the balance and perfection is the expectation. These incidents are supremely difficult, regardless of range; statistics are worthless and the critic, an uneducated and arrogant fool. The competence and trust that snipers prove and demonstrate is what makes them most valuable to their team. All of this begins at the basic school level where proper mindset, technique, and understanding are born.
